Wildfires kill 2,500 people in Northern California

Wildfires in Northern Nevada and Arizona have killed 2,400 people, the governor said Monday.

The number of fatalities is expected to rise as more homes are damaged and more homes burn, said Gov.

Mark Hastert in a statement.

The blaze that destroyed a community on the Nevada side of the Colorado River has charred more than 3,200 acres and killed at least 20 people.

More: The fire burned through the homes of at least 11 families, and some residents were trapped under thick brush.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
